Prime Day Photography Deals I Actually Recommend

Amazon Prime Day is a great time to pick up a few photography essentials while also helping support Practicing Photography.

A lot of Prime Day deals are things photographers simply don't need. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement and end up buying gadgets that spend more time sitting on a shelf than helping you take better photos.

The items below are different. These are either products I personally use or items I would confidently recommend to any photographer. None of them are flashy, but they solve real problems and can make your photography experience much more enjoyable.

1. Extra Memory Cards

One thing you never want to run out of during a photo shoot is storage space. Be careful with extremely cheap memory cards. A failed memory card can cost you far more than the money you saved.

I recommend sticking with trusted brands such as SanDisk, Lexar, or PNY. When shopping, look for cards rated V30 or V60. These ratings are designed for video recording, but they also indicate the card is fast enough for most photography needs.

2. Microfiber Cleaning Cloths

These are inexpensive, useful, and something you can never have too many of. Keep one in every camera bag, your car, and even your pocket. They're perfect for cleaning lenses, filters, camera screens, and eyeglasses.

3. A Good Tripod

A tripod opens up creative possibilities that simply aren't possible when shooting handheld. Whether you're photographing landscapes, waterfalls, night scenes, or family portraits, a tripod is one of the best investments you can make.

I personally use and love the Peak Design Travel Tripod. It's lightweight, compact, and extremely well built, although it is definitely on the expensive side.

If you're looking for something more budget-friendly, Neewer makes some excellent tripods. I haven't personally used this specific model, but Neewer has built a solid reputation for delivering good value for the money.

4. Memory Card Case

A memory card case does more than protect your cards. It keeps them organized, easy to find, and prevents them from getting lost at the bottom of your camera bag.

This is the card case I use and highly recommend:
