Your camera has well over a hundred controls. You need four:

Mode Dial — decides how much of the thinking the camera does for you.

Shutter Button — half-press to focus, full press to shoot. Two actions, one button.

Main Dial — the wheel by your thumb. Changes whatever your current mode lets you change.

Menu — everything else. About an hour of your life, then rarely again.

Today, 10 minutes: find all four on your camera. Then find them again without looking. Three times, no manual.

People don't stay in Auto because aperture is hard. They stay because fumbling for a dial costs more than the shot was worth.
